If you haven’t gotten your hands on a fidget spinner yet, maybe it’s not worth bothering. Because that trend is over.
The awesome statistics website FiveThirtyEight just analyzed Google and YouTube data on the fidget spinner craze, and they found that the fad is already on the way out.
Web searches for fidget spinners peaked in early May, YouTube searches peaked in mid May, and news searches peaked in late May. All three of them have dropped significantly ever since.
That isn’t stopping people from uploading more fidget spinner YouTube videos, though. That number keeps going up.
And people are watching some of them, but mostly ones that have a special gimmick, like stunts or tricks.
What do you think? Are they still hot, or is the trend on the way out?
